When you invest in your practice you expand in every direction. Yoga is more than movement. It is stillness, reflection, giving, and receiving. Private classes are reserved for those of you who are dedicated to living in alignment with your core values. I guide you to your goals in a way that is both enlightening and graceful.
Grow your asana
If you're looking to introduce more advanced postures to your practice or really solidify your foundation, this is for you. I create "grow your asana" classes around the individual, we take injuries or problem areas into consideration, as well as your goals, current practice, and your lifestyle. Yoga is for everyone. Coming from a dance background I deeply understand how the body moves, and can que even the smallest adjustments to expand your practice efficiently and safely. My experience paired with the knowledge of a massage therapist and yoga teacher allows me to help you explore even the smallest of muscles. Weather it's your first yoga class or one hundredth, you can always choose to grow.
the 8 limbs
If you're looking to expand your knowledge and embrace a full yoga practice, you've come to the right place. According to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, there is an eight-fold path leading to liberation, known as the ‘Ashtanga Yoga System’ or ‘8 Limbs of Yoga’.
The 8 Limbs of Yoga
YAMA - Restraints, moral disciplines or moral vows
NIYAMA - Positive duties or observances
ASANA - Posture
PRANAYAMA - Breathing techniques
PRATYAHARA - Sense withdrawal
DHARANA - Focused concentration
DHYANA - Meditative absorption
SAMADHI - Bliss or enlightenment
Classes can consists of a 30 minute asana practice and then study, or a full hour can be spent on learning more about a specific branch.
Breathe & Meditate
Your breath is your greatest tool, and when paired with a regular meditation practice can lead you towards a more peaceful, energized, fulfilling life. During a breath and meditation class, we will learn one new pranayama practice (breath) and spend time practicing the breath, and then a guided visualization or a mindfulness meditation. We will talk about the 8 limbs of yoga, and why a pranayama, pratyahara, and dharana are just as important as the other limbs to create a balanced and beautiful life.
